In the days that have passed and the days that are to come, we'll all be spending more time indoors. A Corner of Home collects photographic studies and new works made by artists in their immediate environments; small snapshots of the impulse to create.

1. Where are you living at the moment and how has that environment shaped you creatively? Can you tell us about a favourite detail of this place and why?

I'm living in an apartment in Frankfurt, Germany. We have our shared office space right down the street but at the moment we work from home. We have three rooms, a bedroom, living room with a balcony and dining room (home office at the moment). Each room has its own qualities and purpose and I'm glad to have this kind of space and separation of work and private space. At the moment I especially appreciate all the different plants in our home. I’ve been planting chives and basil in the kitchen, tomatoes & strawberries on the balcony and different kinds of flowers in the other rooms, and I love checking up on them every day.

2. How have you looked at the materials of home differently in the past weeks? Are there parts of it that have revealed themselves to you in new ways?

It has been amazing to watch the light change from day to day. Usually, I'm in the office or at work all day and miss a lot of it. Now that I'm home for most of each day, I notice reflections that only appear for a day, I feel the days getting longer and the air changing from Winter to Spring. You can really tell that life has become a lot slower.

3. Tell us about how you’ve been using photography lately? What are you making or putting in front of the lens?

I've always liked to photograph everyday life. I find a lot of inspiration in the 'ordinary' and accidental compositions created by daily life. Finding beauty in an exotic place is easy but I find it very rewarding to create something within the familiar. That's what I continue doing at the moment.
